At the deadline of August 1st to submit application for next Nacionaline ledo ritulio lyga (Icehockey National League - NLRL), six clubs are ready to battle for the title of new season, starting in mid September: champion and dominator of last season Energija Elektrenai, runner-up Hockey Punks Vilnius, Rokiškio Rokiškis, Tigrai Kaunas ( the new name of Baltų Ainiai), Juodupės Juodupė and Geležinis vilkas Vilnius. The league lost one team, ESSM-2000 Elektrenai, finished last with just one point gained last season.

For the first time the league will be decided with playoffs involved all teams. Until last season after the regular season, title will be assigned with a final-four. Champion of regular season and team finished second advance directly to semifinals, while all other teams will play playoffs quarter-finals with pairs: 3rd vs 6th and 4th vs 5th. The final will be played at best of three
