For the first time Czech Republic won the gold at Ivan Hlinka Memorial.

 
 
 
 

Slovakia and Czech Republic have co-hosted the prestigious U18 tournament for many years but this was actually the first time the Czechs managed to win it.

USA was beaten 4-3 in the final. Filip Zadina opened the scoring for Czech Republic at 9:14. Alexander Chmelevski tied it on a powerplay eight minutes later. USA took the lead a minute into period two when Mick Messner beat Jakub Škarek in the Czech net. Filip Chytil tied it at half the game but USA took the lead again only 27 seconds later on a goal by Matt Miller. Zadina tied it at 35:41 with his second goal of the game. In the third period Czech Republic outshot USA 15-2 and also got the only goal. Ondrej Machala got the winner on the powerplay at 52:23.

Russia won the bronze medals after beating Sweden 6-3 in Bratislava.
