3:2 |
Espoo Blues |
Both teams started the first final carefully after a long break since the semi finals. HIFK got better towards the end of the first period and got the opening goal at 19:09 Jerry Ahtola could score in a wide open net after some great work by Mikko Kousa and Toni Söderholm.
Toni Söderholm, one of the post-season's best defensemen, scored 2-0 after a nice move in the middle of the second period. Camilo Miettinen made it 2-1 when Blues got a 2-man advantage.
At seven minutes of the last period, HIFK got to play a 2-man advantage for 1:43, but the Blues defense did a heroic work to kill the penalties. The 3-1 goal would come a few minutes later when Robert Nyholm scored on Iiro Tarkki who had lost his stick.
Blues pulled Tarkki at 57:57 and got the 3-2 goal only 10 seconds later when Petri Lammassaari scored, but the equalizer never came and HIFK won game one 3-2.
The second game is played tomorrow.
