Canada will turn their attention to the quarter-finals on Thursday after defeating Finland 5-2 to finish off the round robin.
Fans had a lot to get excited for at the start of the game, with three goals getting scored in the first four minutes. It all started at 2:46 when Mitch Marner took a pass from Brayden Point and walked in and fired a hard shot past Harri Sateri's glove, with the fourth line giving Canada the 1-0 lead early.
But 22 seconds later, Finland tied up the contest. This time, Jani Lajunen took a pass from Oskar Osala in front of the net and jammed it in the empty cage, knotting the game up at one apiece.
The scoring, of course, wasn't close to done yet. At 4:06 on the power play, Marner sent a pass to Colton Parayko at the point, who stepped into the shot and blistered it past Harri Sateri, giving Canada their second lead.
Then, at the 13 minute mark, Marner got his third point of the night. On the power play again, Mark Scheifele made a spin deke in front of the net and found Marner standing at the doorstep. In typical fashion for the Toronto Maple Leafs forward, Marner knocked in the pass and made it 3-1 to further extend Canada's lead.
Canada's fourth line has been dynamite from the start of the tournament, and that didn't stop with their third goal of the game. This time, Mike Matheson's blast from the point hit the back boards and came back in front of the net. Brayden Point was right there to tap in the rebound, giving Canada the 4-1 lead 28 minutes into the contest.
With about six minutes left in the second, Finland scored again. This time, Atte Ohtamaa took a hard slap shot that soared from the blue line, getting past all the traffic in front before hitting the top corner to make it 4-2.
Just 34 seconds into the third, Canada further extended their lead. This time, Matt Duchene got his first goal of the tournament after breaking through the zone and fighting off a hook from behind to deke out Sateri and slide it past his right pad for the 5-2 goal, the final of the game.
With the win, Canada will meet up with the winner of Latvia/Germany in the quarter-finals on Thursday. Finland will look to salvage their disappointing tournament when they face USA in hopes of trying to further their run at the tournament.
