New players before season starts with
The Eihl in the UK begins tomorrow but already three teams have been forced to look for injury cover.
Milton Keynes Lightning have entered the transfer market twice already before the season begins. Recently they brought in former Nottingham Panthers netminder Mika Wiikman as injury cover for netminder Odrobny and today enlisted the services of veteran Ashley Tait who last year iced for Coventry Blaze.
Coach Russell explained the reason for securing Tait’s signature: “As I’m sure most people are aware, we have some injury issues and at this stage, the last thing we want to do is add more workload on to the remaining group in the locker room".
Juha Koivisto signed on an initial four week deal for Sheffield Steelers today also.
He was brought in as a hectic pre-season took it's toll on Steelers players, four of them with serious injuries
"We have been hit with injuries and needed cover ahead of this weekend” said Steelers head coach Paul Thompson “I think we are extremely lucky to find someone with over 300 Lliga games at such short notice.
“Juha will join us as injury cover; that gives us time let our playing roster return to full strength we hope." said Steelers coach Paul Thompson.
