Hosts begin campaign for the silver plate with a convincing victory
With defender Nikita Mitskevich recovered at the last gasp, Yunost Minsk opens the Continental Cup Superfinals, hosted in the beautiful Chizovka Arena, with a clear victory against Italian champion Renon/Ritten after a game already decided in the first period, when home team scored twice in the first ten minutes: at 07:33 recently signed Mikhail Plotnikov finished in the net a personal move, with responsibilities of Italian defence, very slow in facing the Russian player. After 3 minutes, same Plotnikov shots again without opposition with Aleksander Karakulko netting the rebound. The absence of defender Bretton Stamler, suspended, was a tough loss for Renon. Yunost controls the game with Renon unable to really threaten Milchakov cage: a counter-attack finished by Alexander Frei missing the net from a good position at 48 is probably the best chance in all the game for Italian team. While the Yunost seems bringing safely into port the first victory, Renon gives an unexpected thrill to make the last minutes more interesting, scoring at 56:39 with Daniel Tudin on Roland Hofer pass. The Italian bravely pull the goalie for a desperate assault but Michalkov net doesn’t take further risks
MVP: Roland Hofer – Mikhail Plotnikov
