Team Slovakia is the first Olympic men's hockey squad to be eliminated in PyeongChang, South Korea, with the United States winning their second game of the tournament, both against Slovakia, by a score of 5-1.

With no goals in the opening period, the Americans were looking for a chance to open the score wide open in the middle stanza. At 1:36, Ryan Donato, the Americans best player since the opening game of the tournament, potted his third goal of the tournament after Troy Terry missed the puck on the breakaway. Donato would get the puck back after it bounced off the end boards, sniping the puck past Jan Laco top corner to make it 1-0 early in the second period.

Just under a minute later, USA scored another. This time, James Wisnewski took advantage of all the momentum his team had and scored a power-play goal after taking a pass from Terry, blasting a slap shot past Laco to make it 2-0.

USA wasn't done. At 13:30, Terry would grab his third point of the night after finding a streaking Mark Arcobello in the slot, with the former NHL journeyman sniping a shot over Laco's glove to make it 3-0 after an explosive second frame.

The Slovaks would pot one late in the second period to end Ryan Zapolski's shutout. At 16:54, Ladislav Nagy and Dominik Granak did a great job of cycling the puck around the offensive zone on the power-play before finding Peter Ceresnak at the point, with Ceresnak blowing the puck behind Zapolski to make it 3-1.

The Americans kicked off the third period with another goal, bringing back the three-goal advantage. This time, Garrett Roe would get his first ever Olympic goal after both O'Neill and Broc Little made some incredible passes, with Roe tapping in the puck to make it 4-1 for the United States. Donato would score one more before the game was over, ending the contest and advancing the Americans to the quarter-finals.

With the win, the Americans will meet up with the Czech Republic in a rematch of a previous quarter-final match from Sochi in 2014. Slovakia is the first team eliminated from the Olympics, winning their lone game against Russia to kick off the tournament in PyeongChang.
