Czechs secure the quarter final spot
Czech Republic beat Austria 7-0 to secure the last quarter final spot at the World Juniors.
Martin Land scored 2+1 and Pavel Novak 1+2 when the Czechs beat Austria 7-0 in a game to decide who gets the last playoff spot in group B. Czech Republi will play the winner of the game Canada-Finland later today in the quarter final on Saturday.
Austria finished the tournament with four straight losses and a goal difference of 1-29. the only Austrian goal of the tournament was scored by Senna Peeters in the 7-1 loss to Russia.
In today's game Austria managed to keep the game scoreless until 26:21 when Simon Kubicek opened the scoring. Czech Republic added three more goals in the second period and another three in the third.
Nick Malik in the Czech net made 15 saves for the shutout while Sebastian Wraneschitz of Austria saved 54 out of 61 shots on goal.
