A new project will be launched this summer with the aim of strengthening Israeli hockey
The Israel Elite Hockey League will be launched this summer. This is an independent league run through the Israel National Hockey Society (not the Israeli federation) as a summer league, and it will feature import players from North America and Europe mixed with the top Israeli talent.
The hope is that this summer league will strengthen the Israeli federation’s official national championship league by having domestic players play with strong imports, and maybe having some of the imports remain after the summer to play in the Israeli national championship league run by the federation. The level of players playing will be Junior A, Major Junior, NCAA D3, Pro and top Israeli players. Each team will play 2-3 games per week, with one on-ice practice per week and one "birthright style" trip. All games will be played in Jerusalem &/or Holon. All players will live in Tel Aviv and each will have his own room in a shared apartment.
There will be four clubs in the IEHL, all centrally owned by the league.....HC Tel Aviv, Jerusalem Capitals, Holon Vipers and Bat Yam Dolphins.
The Israel National Hockey Society is a not-for-profit corporation that exists to support, promote and grow the sport of hockey in Israel, together with exposing the rest of the world to Israeli hockey and to the Israeli people and culture.
