Huge wins on the second day of the U18 Worlds
Canada humiliated Sweden and Belarus got a surprisingly big win over Switzerland in Group A. In Group B Finland beat Russia in a shootout game while USA defeated Germany.
Canada entered the tournament in Texas on the second day and destroyed the 2019 champion Sweden. The Canadians scored 4 goals in each period to win 12-1. Captain Shane Wright scored three goals and Brandt Clarke got four points (2+2).
Danila Klimovich of Belarus leads the tournament in both points and goals after he scored three goals in the 7-1 win over Switzerland.
Finland was down 3-1 against Russia after two periods but tied the game in the third. Verner Miettinen decided the game in the shootout. Sergei Ivanov in the Russian net made 52 saves - Finland outshot Russia 55-28. Final score 4-3.
USA scored 1-0 and 2-0 in the first period against Germany but the Germans refused to surrender. Eventually USA won 5-3. Ty Gallagher scored two powerplay goals.
