Russia, Canada, Finland and Sweden make it to the semi finals of the World U18 Championship in Frisco, Texas.
After a busy day in Texas the four semi final teams of the U18 Worlds are known.
Russia was the first team to qualify after beating Belarus 5-2. Russia had a 3-0 lead in the second period but Belarus answered with two goals to make it a game again. It took 15 minutes before Ivan Miroshnichenko could make it 4-2 and another two before Vsevolod Gaidamak closed the scoring at 5-2 at 48:34. Sergei Ivanov in the Russian net made 30 saves. Tournament top scorer Matvei Michkov, got another goal when he scored the opening goal of the game.
Canada got a big win over Czech Republic. They had scored 4 goals already after 11 minutes and finally won the game 10-3. Connor Bedard with 2 goals and 3 assists was named best player of the game.
Switzerland managed to keep Finland scoreless for almost two periods but at 39:56 captain Samu Salminen scored 1-0. Aleksi Heimosalmi added a second Finnish goal in the middle of the third period. Finnish netminder Aku Koskenvuo made 23 saves for the shutout.
Fabian Lysell scored two huge goals for Sweden in the 5-2 win over USA that sends the hosts out of the tournament.
Canada and Sweden will play the first semi final on Wednesday and then Finland will play Russia.
