Canada and Russia to play for the U18 gold
Connor Bedard scored three when Canada humiliated Sweden again. Russia managed to get past Finland in another semi final with many goals. A total of 20 goals were scored in the two semi finals of the World U18 Championship in Texas.
Once again Canada showed no mercy with the Swedish U18 team. The game was won 8-1 after 6-0 in the third period when Sweden lost the fighting spirit. Top prospect Connor Bedard scored the important goals for 1-0 and 3-1 and also got a third goal when be made in 7-1. Chase Stillman, Brennan Othman, Francesco Pinelli, Shane Wright and Conner Roulette also scored for Canada. ISak ROsén got the only Swedish goal when he tied it at one in the second period.
Nikita Chibrikov scored twice in the second period and Ivan Miroshnichenko twice in the third when Russia beat Finland 6-5 in the second semi final. The score was 2-2 already after nine minutes after Russia had taken the lead twice. Russia then got a three goal lead after a strong second period and a powerplay early in the third. Finland got closer again but Joakim Kemells 5-6 goal at 57:08 was the last one of the game.
Finland will play Sweden in the bronze medal game tonight before Canada and Russia play the final.
