Kulakov, Kostitsyn and Kovyrshin all scored three points when Belarus won 7-2.
After scoring only three goals in three games Belarus finally got their offense to work. Scoring three goals already in the first period they won the opening game of the relegation round against Austria 7-2.
Yevgeni Kovyrshin opened the scoring from the slot at 4:06 and after that Belarus was in control of the game. Kovyrshin added two more assists later and was given the best player of the game award for Belarus.
After 3-0 in the first period Belarus added two more goals in the second for a comfortable 5-0 lead. In the third Austria, who only scored one goal in the first three games finally got some scoring going when Setzinger and Schiechl put them on the score board.
Belarus however added two more goals between the two goals and won 7-2. Things now looks bad for Austria that probably needs to beat both Latvia and Slovenia to aviod relegation to division 1. More positive feelings for Belarus but they still can't relax as they also have two games more to play to avoid relegation.
