Ted Brithen scored three goals when Rögle beat another Swedish team, Frölunda, in the first of two games in the Champions Hockey League semi finals. Red Bull München and Tappare were supposed to play in Münich but that game was canceled due to Covid-19.

Championshockeyleague.com reports that the semi final game between München and Tappara that was supposed to be played tonight has been canceled as the German authorities have put the entire Munich team into quarantine as a precautionary measure after a positive Covid-19 test of at least one team member was confirmed as a case of the Omicron variant.

In Swedish SHL many teams have also gotten positive tests the past few games and a bunch of upcoming games have to be re-scheduled, but tonight's CHL semi final game between Rögle and Frölunda could be played as planned even if Frölunda's young star Simon Edvinsson tested positive and couldn't play.

Frölunda took the lead in the first period on a late powerplay goal by Johan Sundström but thanks to three goals by Ted Brithén, Rögle won 5-3 and now have a 2-goal lead before game two that will be played next week. Brithén scored the important goals for 1-1, 3-1 and 5-3. Samuel Johannesson and Leon Bristedt also scored for the home team while Frölunda's two last goals were scored by Niklas Lasu and Ryan Lasch.
