With lethal counterattacks Saryarka get the silver medal at Continental Cup Superfinals
The two disappointed teams close the Continental Cup Superfinals: the Kazakhs of Saryarka Karaganda and the hosts of the Aalborg Pirates in a game worthwhile just to determine the second position behind the champions of Cracovia Krakow.
The game is very lively and sees the physical play of the Danes on the one hand and the speed of the Kazakhs on the other, well exemplified by the action of the first goal: a quick counterattack with a good speedy assist by Mikhail Rakhmanov for the one -timer by Sergei Barbashyov.
In the second period once again, while Aalborg maintain control of the game, the Kazakhs strike with speed: the second goal comes at the end of a coast to coast by Stefan Grymzin with no chance for Sorensen. Before the end of the period the third Kazakh goal comes: it's easy for Andrei Yakovlev to score into an empty net with three yellow and black players in front of the goalkeeper.
The last period opens with the deserved goal of the Pirates, scored by Ian Edmondson after a confused action in front of the Kazakh cage and a complaint by Saryarka for a possible obstruction of Romig
After the Danish goal, the game becomes nervous, with few actions and several penalties. The best chances are for the Pirates, twice with Emilio Romig.
Applauded by their fans, the Pirates pull out the goalkeeper, but the Kazakhs immediately take the opportunity to score the fourth goal with 17 seconds left with Nikita Anokhovski.
After the game the best players of the Superfinals were awarded:
Best goalie: Denis Perevozchikov (Cracovia)
Best defender: Jiri Gula (Cracovia)
Best forward: Sergei Barbashyov (Saryarka Karaganda)
