Finland and Canada set to finalise World Championships
For the the third consecutive time the World Championships will be contested between the nations of Canada and hosts Finland.
The teams are set for the the final game in The Nokia Arena
in Tampere as Finland
will take on Canada.
Finland won in 2019, but Canada got the better of Finland last year. This is the first time in nine hostings that Finland will win a medal on home ice. The question now is: will it
be gold or silver?
In the semi finals during a hard fought back
and forth clash Finland came out on top over USA.
Defenseman Miro Heiskanen set the pace with a
goal and two assists.
USA got the first marker but Finland tied it up in the last minutes of the first period. Then
roared on by the partisan Finnish crowd the Suomi side closed out the game.
In the later final Czechia looked good value
for their early lead but Canada tied things up late in the fist period as Dylan Cozens
followed up his own rebound to score.
Then indiscipline hit he Czechia side and two
powerplay goals either side of a David Lowry five on five goal. Cole Sillinger
increased the Canadian lead 3:56 into the
third
And at 5-1 the tie looked all but over and
when Paternak missed a penalty shot and Cozens made it six it was all over.
