Friends Pushkum and Down Hill Kargil lift 14 CEC Ice Hockey Cup 2023 in Ladakh

Since 2008 the traditional tournament played in the capital of territory of Ladakh, India, has attracted thousands of spectators despite the temperatures reaching -22 degrees
In Ladakh, Friends Pashkum with the help of the outstanding performance by the Goal Keeper lifted the 14th CEC Ice Hockey Cup 2023 by defeating Humas Warriors Drass by 2 goals to nil.
In women’s Category Down Hill Kargil lifted the Cup by defeating Wakha Mulbekh Women Team.
Thousands of spectators reached Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium despite the bone-chilling temperature as the mercury dipped to Minimum 22 Degree Celsius.
Chief Guest, CEC LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmad congratulated the winners and runners-up teams for reaching the finale and said that playing the game with sportsmanship and discipline is the greatest achievement.
27 teams, including 4 Women teams, participated in the Tournament which is the result of the growing popularity of the Game in the District.
The Chief Guest urged the youths to focus on games like Archery, Ice Hockey, Horse Polo, Skiing and Martial Arts in which the youths have an edge and have been performing well.
Feroz Ahmad Khan appreciated the efforts of the Rural Development Department and Youths service and Sports Department for expanding this game to the remotest village by their different schemes.
The next event for Indian icehockey is the national championship, started January 27 and finishing on February 9 with games for men, women and U18 teams
