In the final game of their Olympic qualification preparation, Ukraine secured a decisive 6-3 victory over Hungary at Vasas Jégcentrum. The game saw a dominant performance from Ukraine, particularly in the second period, which set the tone for their win.
After a scoreless first period, Ukraine exploded in the second, scoring three unanswered goals. Stanislav Sadovikov opened the scoring at 26:31, followed by Volodymyr Cherdak's strike just 28 seconds later. Oleksander Peresunko added a power-play goal at 35:38, giving Ukraine a commanding 3-0 lead.
Ukraine continued their dominance early in the third period, with Sadovikov netting his second goal at 46:03 on the power play, and Denys Borodai pushing the lead to 5-0 two minutes later. Hungary, however, rallied with three goals in quick succession. Doman Szongoth started the comeback at 51:57, followed by Vilmos Galló's goal at 52:51, and Balázs Varga adding a power-play marker at 55:49 to close the gap to 5-3.
Despite Hungary’s late surge, Ukraine sealed the game with an empty-net goal by Andri Denyskin at 57:18, making the final score 6-3. Ukraine's Stanislav Sadovikov was a standout with two goals, while Yevgen Fadyeyev contributed three assists.
Goaltender Bogdan Dyachenko made 24 saves for Ukraine with an 87.50% save percentage, while Hungary's Bence Bálizs and Ádám Vay combined for 29 saves, but Ukraine’s relentless pressure, reflected in their 35 shots on goal, proved too much.
This game concluded the preparation phase for both teams as they look ahead to their Olympic qualification campaigns.
