The 2025 IIHF U20 World Championship Division 2A tournament concluded in Zagreb, Croatia, with Lithuania claiming the gold medal and earning promotion to Division 1B for next year.
Displaying dominance throughout the competition, Lithuania finished with a perfect record of 5-0-0 and an impressive goal differential of +34 (39:5).
In the decisive game for the championship, Lithuania overwhelmed hosts Croatia with a resounding 13-1 victory. Dominating from start to finish, Lithuania opened the scoring early and never relented. Mykolas Skadauskas registered a hat trick in the final, while several players contributed to the rout, showcasing their offensive depth and defensive stability.
Lithuania’s forwards led the way, particularly Simas Ignatavicius, who finished as the tournament's top scorer with 14 points (8+6) in five games. He was closely followed by teammates Mykolas Skadauskas (7+5, 12 points) and Pijus Pranskevicius (4+6, 10 points).
With their commanding victory, Lithuania earns promotion to Division 1B for the 2026 U20 World Championship. Despite their best efforts, the Netherlands finished last, going winless and facing relegation to Division 2B.
