Anton Slepyshev picked first in the KHL junior draft

May 28 was the third KHL draft in history held in Mytischi Arena. 135 players were selected. Mostly Russians, but also 16 players from Sweden, 11 from Finland, 6 from Canada, 4 from Kazakhstan, 3 from Latvia, 3 from USA, 2 from Slovakia and one from Belarus, Norway, Switzerland and Czech Republic. Anton Slepyshev of Dizel-2 in Pervaya Liga was selected first in the 2011 KHL junior draft by Metallurg Novokuznetsk.
Eligible for the draft were two categories of players:
- 17 years old players graduated from Russian hockey schools
- 17-21 years old players not competing in Russian Federation competitions and with no contract with teams of KHL, VHL or MHL
