Elitserien round 11
13 Oct 2011 | Fredrik Pålsson
Frölunda tops the league while last season's champion Färjestad is in last place and still without a win after regular time.
MoDo - Brynäs 4-3 OT
Yesterday MoDo defeated Brynäs 4-3 after overtime. Johan Larsson tied the game for Brynäs with only 40 seconds left to play. But MoDo was glad they got away with two points and that they scored their first power play goal of the season.
Färjestad - Timrå 1-2 SO
Both teams needed three points here to not lose too much ground in the bottom of the table. Noone got three points when the game was tied at full time. Färjestad took the lead after 30 seconds and Timrå got back into the game when Hannes Hyvönen was given a major penalty after a late elbow on Per Hallin who left the game with concussion. Timrå took the important bonus point after penalty shots and went pass last season's champions Färjestad who now are in last place.
Skellefteå - Luleå 3-2
A derby game in the north of Sweden and also a top game. Luleå were going for the win with a 2-0 lead on away ice but Skellefteå managed to turn things around and won 3-2. Erik Forssell was the hero of the day when he scored both 2-2 and 3-2. Simon Hjalmarsson scored twice for Luleå. Skellefteå are now second in the standings, Luleå third.
Frölunda - HV 71 3-0
The super dane Frederik Andersen played his fourth shutout game in ten games and has only conceded ten goals so far. No wonder that Frölunda tops the standings two points ahead of Skellefteå (but with one more game played). HV 71 had 27 shots on goal today but failed to score and are in fifth place.
Växjö - AIK 0-4
AIK is another team with a very strong goalie and Viktor Fasth had his third shutout so far. He is the big key to AIK being in place four. In the games he didn't play AIK have had big problems. Växjö has done well so far but is their roster strong enough? Only six players have scored so far, all of them foreigners. Another foreigner goalie Martin Gerber didn't start today but came in at 0-3.
Djurgården - Linköping 4-1
Djurgården took a strong win at home to Linköping. Kristoffer Ottosson scored three points. Both teams have been uneven so far into the season and both have 17 points just as HV 71 and Brynäs in this very even league table.
