Before the last game against Avangard of the season Vityaz have only one Canadian tough-guy, who hasn't been banned by the league, it was Nik Tarnasky. But he didn't help his team in any way neither with the scoring goals nor with increasing team spirit by fights. In the middle of the game Avangard forward Igor Volkov opened the scoring with a play near Vityaz's net, where he added a puck after a shot from Sergei Kalinin. Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk still wants to get into the playoffs, that's why the game against Metallurg Novokuznetsk was very important. Neftekhimik grabbed a fast 1-goal lead with Yegor Milovzorov's 10th goal of the season at 0:55. In the middle of the first Oskar Osala made it 2-0 after a pass from Yevgeny Korolyov. 2 minutes later Metallurg began the comeback when Dmitry Kagarlitsky scored. "Unfortunately some of our players began to celebrate Christmas. We lost because of the mistakes of these players," Metallurg head coach Anatoly Yemelin said.

What a metamorphosis that happened with Spartak when Andrei Sidorenko became the Head Coach. No one could predict that in the first period of the game against Metallurg Magnitogorsk Spartak outshot the visitors 15-7, created several goal chances, but weren't able to score. The same in the second, but in one counter-attack Oleg Tverdovsky, who could move to Spartak after being on waivers from Salavat Yulaev gave Metallurg a 1-goal lead at 25:04. Metallurg tried to freeze Spartak's attack with taking a time-out in the end of the second. But in the third, the Moscow team still dominated on the ice; Roman Lyuduchin with a back hand shot in front of the net tied the game at 45:11. But 43 seconds later a Spartak d-man lost Sushinsky in front of the net and he was first on the rebound from the board. The main hero of this game is Metallurg's goalie Ari Ahonen, who stopped 33 shots and led his team to a 7th straight game. Spartak Moscow after this loss didn't lose a chances to get into playoffs and it seems that if they will play in the same way in new 2012 year they have all chances to be in top-8 in the West.

"It's always good to come to Sokolniki, to the club, which gave you a ticket to a big hockey, and it's always good to win here," Metallurg head coach Fyodor Kanareikin said.

"We created so many goal chances, but couldn't score, and allowed so strange goals," Andrei Sidoreneko said.
