Neftekhimik beats Ak Bars in Tatar derby

A review of the eight KHL games that were played on Tuesday.
Barys 0-2 TorpedoTorpedo blanks Barys in Astana. The first Torpedo attack in the game led to a goal; Martin Thörnberg scored with a ricochet and gave his team a 1-goal lead. Belarus goalie Vitaly Koval earned his fourth shutout of the season stopping 38 shots from Astana, 7 of them was made by Kevin Dallman. Torpedo got an empty-net goal with 44 seconds remaining to salt away a 2-0 victory in Astana.
Salavat Yulaev 4-1 AmurSwedish goalie Erik Ersberg won his first game since November 2 when Salavat Yulaev beat Avtomobilist in shootout 4-3. In the last game of the season against Amur Ufa beat them again like two day ago. Pyotr Schastlivy and Miroslav Blatyak gave Salavat a 2-goal lead in the second period. Martin Ruzicka tried to back Amur in the game at 44:27. But two goals from Igor Mirnov and Igor Radulov led Salavat to 4-1 victory. Ersberg stopped 30 shots: 7 from Jakub Petruzalek and 6 from the new Amur d-man Oleg Piganovich.
Traktor 2-3 Dynamo MoskvaTraktor Chelyabinsk rally from a 2-goal deficit in the game against Dynamo, but lost them in the last 5 minutes. During a 2 minute span in the middle of the second Dynamo scored twice with goals from Denis Kokarev and Denis Tolpeko. In the third Traktor returned to the game. Defenseman Alexander Ryazantsev scored his 12th goal of the season in power-play. 3 minutes later Anton Glinkin tied the game after a pass from Raimond Giroux. With 4:13 remaining in the third Vyacheslav Kozlov gave Dynamo an important win in Chelyabinsk.
Yugra 3-1 AvangardThe game in Khanty-Mansiysk ended with a surprising result where Avangard lost, again lost. In the middle of the first the Omsk players took a chance to play 5-on-3 but could score only one minute after this when Yury Alexandrov used a pass from Igor Volkov and opened the scoring at 13:55. Early in the third Alexey Pepelyaev tied the game, and then Sergey Demagin gave Yugra a 1-goal lead. With an empty-net goal from Ivan Khlynstev in the last minute Yugra managed to win Avangard 3-1.
Metallurg Nk 3-2 SO SibirThe last game of the season was played in Novokuznetsk where home Metallurg faced Sibir Novosibirsk. Early in the second Alexei Medvedev gave Metallurg a 1-goal lead after a flurry near the post. At 27:23 Dmitry Megalinsky fired a wrist shot under the crossbar making 2-0. Sibir answered this with a Jonas Enlund goal after a good pass from Vyacheslav Belov at 32:13. In the last period Sibir managed to tie the game. After a rude mistake of the home team defense Anton Malyshev tied the game at 40:51. In the shootout series only Alexei Kosourov was accurate and led his team to a victory. Torpedo goalie Bernd Brückler stopped 39 shots, but it wasn't enough to take more this night.
"We should believe in ourselves, to find it in us. Leading 2-0, we conceded a goal, and then another referee mistake… Another referee mistake and we lost points. It wasn't a first mistake," Metallurg head coach Anatoly Yemelin said to Novokuznetsk Sport Portal.
Vityaz 2-4 Metallurg MgMetallurg Magnitogorsk won an 8th straight game beating Vityaz 4-2 in Chekhov. The away team got a quick lead with Alexei Mikhov nice sole move at 3:54. Mikhail Zhukov tied the game in the middle of first. Maxim Sushinsky and Nikolay Lemtyugov used mistakes of Vityaz defense to make it 1-3. Danila Alistratov instantly relieved Matt Dalton. Artemy Panarin cut Metallurg lead with playing as the screen between Ari Ahonen's net in the middle of the third. An empty-net goal from Sergei Mozyakin closed it 2-4. In the end of the game Jon Mirasty and Nik Tarnasky organized a mess against Alexei Bondarev and Mikhail Yakubov, where of course the Canadians were better.
Neftekhimik 4-3 Ak BarsIn a Tatar derby Neftekhimik snapped Ak Bars 6 games winning streak. At 01:20 Ak Bars grabbed a quick 1-goal lead when Konstantin Glazachev after a pass from Maxim Spiridonov and Grigory Panin opened the scoring. Funny moment in the middle of the second during a delayed penalty Danis Zaripov scored an empty-net goal to his own net. Nikita Shchitov was the last who touch the puck from Neftekhimik and became the author of a goal. During this penalty, which got Nikolai Belov for holding Danis Zaripov corrected his mistake and gave Ak Bars again 1-goal lead. Two Oskar Osala goals turned the game into Neftekhimik's account. At 43:56 Denis Arkhipov improved the home team lead to two goals. Evgeny Medvedev from Ak Bars closed the game with 4-3 and his team loss. Both goalies Tuomas Tarrki and Petri Vehanen stopped 35 shots.
"I thought that our own goal helped Neftekhimik to believe in their power. The fourth goal is Vehanen's mistake, but before it our forward also did it. At all, guys wanted to win last game of 2011 year, but couldn't do it," Ak Bars head coach Vladimir Krikunov said to Neftekhimik‘s official site.
Severstal 3-2 SpartakSpartak ended 2011 year with nightmare November and December and a loss in Cherepovets. Alexander Stepanov from Severstal opened the scoring at 16:30 after a passes from Alexei Tsvetkov and Maxim Chudinov. Gennady Stolyarov added in power-play to make 2-0; Spartak d-man Denis Bodrov answered fast with assist from Artyom Voronin. Ruslan Nurtdinov returned a 2-goal lead and Stefan Ruzicka with 7 second remaining converted a penalty shot to close the game with 3-2 in favour of Severstal.
