There was a full round of games played in Elitserien yesterday. Eurohockey.com gives you a short update on what happened.
Luleå won 5-3 against Färjestad and are now in second place. Luleå had 4-2 and control of the game after two periods but Färjestad was the better team in the third and almost tied the game before Luleå scored on the empty net. Simon Hjalmarsson had a great game for Luleå with two goals and two assists.
Skellefteå won the top game against HV 71 5-1 and still tops the table. Three power play goals in the first period laid the ground for the win against HV who fell down to fourth place. Christian Söderström and Jimmie Ericsson both scored three points. Last year's top scorer Joakim Lindström made an assist, his first point since his return from NHL.
Brynäs is in third place after a 3-2 win away to MoDo. Brynäs had 3-1 after two periods but in the last period it was all about MoDo who had 21-5 in shots on goal but they only managed to score one goal as Johan Holmqvist made 20 saves in the period. Brynäs only had 17 shots on the entire game but still scored three goals on MoDo's junior goalie Linus Ullmark as Tellqvist is ill and Forsberg away at the World Juniors.
Timrå is stuck at the bottom of the table after another loss. Despite there is 22 rounds left they can probably start preparing for the relegation round now. Poor goaltending and a very bad second period killed any hopes of points today. Timrå made a good race in the third but couldn't come back from 1-4 and 2-5. And instead Djurgården added two late goals to win 7-3 on away ice.
AIK took an impressive 6-2 win at home to Frölunda. AIK dominated the first two periods heavily but only had the lead 2-1. In the third period the goals came. Robert Rosén had three points and are tied top scorer of the league with MoDo's Danielsson and Växjö's Iggulden.
In a round with many goals the game between Växjö and Linköping was the exception the game finished with a 1-1 tie and Linköping got the bonus point in the shootout. The game was close with few chances and none of the teams had over 20 shots during regular time. Jan Hlavac' penalty shot gave Linköping the bonus point that took Linköping to the same point as Växjö. Linköping is in tenth place and Växjö in ninth.
