After the regular season there are two quarter final groups played. Three teams in each group play for the semi final spots.

The winner of the finals is Danish Champion.

  • from 2013 to present: Metal Ligaen

Metal Ligaen opened tonight

In the opening game of the Danish league, Herning Blue Fox secured a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory against SønderjyskE in Vojens. Emil Kristensen was the hero for Herning, scoring twice, including the game-winner in overtime. Despite trailing 2-0 after the first period, SønderjyskE rallied to tie the game, but ultimately fell short in the extra period. The match was marked by numerous penalties, which disrupted the flow of play but added to the overall tension and excitement for the 1,864 fans in attendance.

Aalborg wins Danish championship

Aalborg Pirates is the 2022 champion of Denmark after a 5-1 win over Rungsted in the fifth game of the finals.

Thomas Spelling scored three of the goals.

Epinal hires Brad Gratton as new coach

After a brilliant 2015-16 season, when team finished 2nd in the standing and lost in playoofs semifinals, Gamyo Epinal, currently 8th in the standing, fired coach Stephane Barin, replacing him with Canadian Brad Gratton, who coached mainly in Denmark during the career. Gratton left Odense Bulldogs after last season, with a Danish Cup won with the club

Herning beat SønderjyskE 2-1 in the final of Metal Cup to repeat last season's victory.

IIHF blocked Starkov transfer

Some days ago Red Ice Martigny announced the sign of Danish forward Kirill Starkov. The player had been released by his club Esjberg at the beginning of the year following a matches-fixing scandal

IIHF did not accept the transfer because of this case. The situation will remain unchanged throughout the procedure.

Match-fixing scandal in Denmark

Esbjerg fires three players for betting that their opponent Rungsted would score in the first period in a game January 3. Rungsted scored three goals in the first period and won the game 7-4. The fired players are Dennis Jensen, Kirill Starkov and Tyler Mosienko.

Danish game interrupted

Tonight's game between Herlev and Rødovre in the Danish league was interrupted at 28:03 when Herlev had a 3-0 lead. The reason why the game was not finished was a hole in the ice, where you can see all the way down to the concrete.

Bronze for Rødovre in Denmark

Rødovre won bronze in the Danish playoff after winning the bronze series against Odense. Both games ended with a draw and Rødovre won after penaly shootout

Odense wins round 1

Odense won the first of the Danish finals against Herning 2-0. Mathias Thinnesen and Mikkel Ankjær Nielsen scored the goals.

Kim Staal returns home

One of the greatest Danish players ever, Kim Staal, is back in Danish ice hockey. He left his Danish team Herlev at age 15 to play most of his career in Sweden, except for one season in AHL (Milwaukee Admirals). Staal who has been troubled by injuries the last two seasons has signed a contract with Herning. Staal has played 14 World Championships with Denmark including 8 in the Elite group.
