KHL regular season resumed with 9 games this Tuesday after an All-Star game which was held last Saturday in Riga.

 
 
 
 
Metallurg Nk 3-2SO Avtomobilist
Metallurg beat Avtomobilist in shootout series after losing to them most time of the game. Nikolai Bushuyev two times pulled Avtomobilist ahead in the first and in the second period but Brent Sopel’s second KHL goal and Alexei Medvedev in power-play tied the game at 36:31. Dmitry Kagarlitsky in the 4th round of the shootout gave Metallurg a win. Teemu Lassila stopped 27 shots and another 4 in the shootout. Metallurg Nk is now 7 points from the 8th team of the East, Yugra.

Avangard 3-2 Barys
Avangard rally from a 2-goal deficit to beat Barys in the third. Brandon Bochenski opened the scoring when it was only 34 second of the first. It was the 20th goal of the Canadian, Kevin Dallman at this play made his 28th assist. In the second Jiri Novotny extended the lead with Lukas Kaspar assisting. Alexander Popov, Alexander Perezhogin and Dmitry Syomin with their goals lift Avangard over Barys in 17 minutes. Finnish goalie Karri Rämö hadn’t a lot of work and stoned 19 shots when his opponent Vitaly Yeremeyev met 38 shots. This win helps Avangard to get the 6th place in the East.

Sibir 2-3 Traktor
Sibir has fewer chances to get to the playoffs while Traktor is close to clinch the top of the East. But it wasn’t an easy game for the Chelyabinsk team. After two periods the score was 1-1 with Jonas Enlund and Stanislav Chistov goals. At 44:11 Konstantin Alexeyev with the first goal of the season pulled Sibir ahead. But with 3:04 to play Anton Burdasov tied the game and 50 seconds later Yevgeny Kuznetsov with his 17th goal of the season led Traktor to a win.

Salavat Yulaev 3-0 Vityaz

Salavat Yulaev blanked Vityaz in this home game 3-0. With two goals in the first by Antti Pihlström and Igor Grigorenko and Yury Trubachyov in the second Ufa got a comfortable advantage. Erik Ersberg made the second shutout in this season stopping 19 shots. Vityaz goalie Matt Dalton faced with 42 shots from the Ufa team and stopped only 39 shots. This win helps Salavat Yulaev to get the top of Chernyshov division and the second place in the East.

Ak Bars 1-3 Spartak
Spartak Moscow who doesn’t have many chances to get to the playoffs won against Ak Bars 3-1 on the road. It’s not usual for the Moscow team but in this game they used 3 of 5 power-play chances. The first time Vadim Berdnikov did it later in the first. Ilya Nikulin from Ak Bars tied the game at 34:58. Stefan Ruzicka early in the third pulled Spartak ahead and Andre Benoit finished the game with an empty-net goal. Former Spartak goalie Ivan Kasutin was backup of Petri Vehanen when Spartak’s new goalie Sergei Borisov showed another great performance with 37 stopped shots and increased his stats to 95% of the shots stopped.

Neftekhimik 4-2 Severstal
Severstal had problems in Nizhekamsk where they lost to the local Neftekhimik 4-2. Tuomas Tarkki stopped 25 shots and led Neftekhimik to a win, he couldn’t deny only shots from Nikolai Kazakovtsev and Ruslan Nurtdinov. Vasily Koshechkin who had several shutouts last month conceded 4 goals from Alexander Islamov, Denis Arkhipov, Maxim Pestushko and Igor Polygalov. Neftekhimik also tried to catch Yugra in the battle for the 8 in the East.

SKA 5-1 Dynamo Msk
SKA overplayed its chaser in the Bobrov division Dynamo Moscow 5-1. Andrei Pervyshin opened the scoring with the second shot at 5:48 in power-play. Dynamo tied the game in the second with Ilya Gorokhov’s goal. But it wasn’t long, 4 minutes later Fyodor Fyodorov beat Dynamo goalie Alexei Volkov to make it 2-1. Vladimir Tarasenko fed up a pass to Sergei Monakhov who with a high shot extended the lead. Viktor Tikhonov with two goals in the third closed the game with a 5-1 score. SKA outshot Dynamo 35-20 and it’s another prove that SKA was better this night.

Dinamo Mn 6-5 CSKA

Dinamo Minsk beat CSKA 6-5 in a dramatic ending. The Belarus team got a quick 2-goal lead early in the first with shots from Daniel Corso and Teemu Laine. At 08:23 CSKA cut their lead with Vyacheslav Buravchikov’s power-play goal. Jere Karalahti extended Minsk’s lead to 2 goals with a nice shot. At 32:57 Sergei Shirokov cut the Belarus team lead again; Nikita Filatov assisted at this play. Minsk used a 5-on-3 chance to made it 4-2 Alexei Meleshko scored. But with 3:13 remaining in the second CSKA cut Minsk lead again now with a shorthanded goal by Filatov. The best scorer of WJC (U18) Nikita Kucherov who also took part at the WJC-2012 in Calgary scored his first KHL goal at 43:29 and tied the game. Ten minutes later Denis Parshin pulled CSKA ahead in a power-play. It seemed that all decided this night but not for the Minsk foreigners. During a 45 second span they scored twice and gifted Dinamo a fantastic victory. Libor Pivko tied the game in power-play at 57:44. And with 1:31 seconds remaining Charles Linglet led Dinamo to a victory. Both start goalies ended the game Stana stoned 16 shots but his opponent Kevin Lalande had more work to do with 32 stopped shots.

Dinamo Riga 5-4 SO Torpedo
In the last game of the day Dinamo Riga faced with Torpedo at home ice. A nightmare first period for Torpedo they lost three times. Firstly Girts Ankipans at 10:36 opened the scoring. Then two goals for a minute set the final score of the first with Marcel Hossa and Martins Karsums goals. Hossa who was deducted from Spartak before the NY become the last forward of last week and tonight earned two points. Torpedo tried to catch up with the Latvian team. They cut the lead to a one-goal with Vladimir Gorbunov and Martin Thörnberg goals. 24 seconds after Thörnberg’s goal Guntis Galvins returned a 2-goal advantage for Riga but it wasn’t long; 44 seconds later Mikhail Varnakov made it 4-3! With 74 seconds remaining in the third Torpedo tied the game with a Maxim Potapov goal with a pulled goalie Nikita Bespalov who relieved start goalie Pekka Tuokkola after the first. The game was decided in shootout where Latvian players were more accurate; Alexander Nizivijs scored the game winning shot.
