Zürich wins game with less than one minute to play, while Lugano shuts out Ambrì-Piotta.
Kloten Flyers - ZSC Lions 2:3The ZSC Lions reaffirmed their playoff ambitions by winning in Kloten. After almost forgiving a two-goal lead despite being the far better team, it was Ambühl who scored the game-winner with only 56 seconds left on the clock. Around "half time" of the game Monnet and Murphy had brought Zürich in front within six minutes. When Stancescu scored for Kloten two minutes before the second break, hope came back to the home side which was even increased when Marcel Jenni tied the game in the 52nd minute. This result stood until the last minute when Ambühl went over the right wing and his pass was deflected into the own net by a very unlucky DuPont to give Zürich all three points.
HC Lugano - HC Ambrì-Piotta 3:0 In this match Lugano added three important points to make clear their playoff ambitions. After Genève and by that the non-playoff spots have come closer during the last few weeks, the hosts had every reason to win their match against Ambrì-Piotta. In a sold-out arena McLean found the back of the net after only four minutes. The guests did also oversleep the begin of the middle period where Petteri Nummelin ended a Lugano power play after only nine seconds with a wonderful blueline shot to give his team a comfortable lead. Despite best chances on both sides none of the teams was able to score another time until McLean with his second of the day (52.) made the Lugano win perfect. Ambri once more showed their problems in finding goals as they were shutout for the third time in the last five games.
