Bishkek to host Challenge Cup of Asia Division I

The capital of Kyrgyzstan has been preferred to Mongolia to host the first Challenge Cup of Asia Division I
From February 23 to March 2 the capital of Kyrgyzstan Bishkek will host the first Asian Challenge Cup Division I.
" I strongly promoted the initiative to host the tournament in Kyrgyzstan during the IIHF congress in Sweden.Then we waited, but we had a definitive answer in 2012 at the Congress of the Asian Federation where Bishkek was approved as venue for the tournament"- said the Ice Hockey Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic President Anwar Omorkanov. "Another candidate to host the tournament was Mongolia, but final preference was given to Kyrgyzstan"
At the moment, three countries - besides host Kyrgyzstan - confirmes their participation in the tournament: India, Macau and Singapore, while the participation of Philippines remains in question.
"We want to hold this high-level tournament and show the world that there is hockey in Kyrgyzstan.International Federation should pay attention to those countries where the sport is gaining progress "- added Omorkanov.
