Josef Stümpel played his first game since October 28, when he got an arm injury in a game where Salavat Yulaev beat Spartak 3-2 in overtime.
"Now I feel pretty good," Jozef Stumpel said to Eurohockey.com
The first moment happened, when Mikhail Biryukov resisted a shot from Alexander Budkin, but Roman Lyuduchin was first on the rebound and with a tip-in goal opened the scoring at 21:07. Spartak played very strong not allowing Biryukov to take a rest; and the game in power-play was better than in the major part of the games, which were played last season. Ruzicka came from behind the net trying to put a puck to the net, but Biryukov closed the free corner, during the flurry in the goalie zone Lyuduchin's shot came to the post. After the second period Spartak won 32 of 48 face-off and outshot Yugra 35-16! It was so weird for all, because Spartak usually played this season as the "second number" and was bad at face-offs. But, decided not to give the game away so easily.
"We knew that Spartak will play so aggressively in the first part, but we also knew that in hockey you should play the whole game. A fast first goal in the third helped us, we were a little bit lucky in the end and won the game," Tomas Starosta said to Eurohockey.com.
Firstly, Vitaly Sitnikov's high wrist shot tied the game at 46:08. Igor Magogin also took a part in this play. With 3:17 remaining in the third Spartak goalie Ivan Kasutin made a mistake playing behind the net, Igor Skorokhodov robbed the puck behind the net and gave a pass to Igor Magogin who was in front of the net, and made it 1-2. It was a 6th straight victory for Yugra. Mikhail Biryukov stoned 39 shots tonight and was one of the best players of the night.
"After a bad game against Czech Republic at Euro Hockey Tour our goalie showed another game and helped us to win," Yugra head coach Sergey Shepelev said.
"We're disappointed with the game; we had good scoring chances. I think the reasons are not in our physical conditions, maybe we should try to play a little bit aggressive, two little mistakes lead to two goals," Stümpel said.
