EBEL: Brian Lebler is back
Brian Lebler, after a season playing for Ingolstadt in DEL, has decided to return to the Black Wings Linz for the 2016/2017 season. The 27-year-old Austrian national team member has spent most of his professional hockey career in Linz, collecting 212 points (122 goals) in 235 games. Lebler was awarded EBEL's MVP in the 2014/2015 season.

Adler Mannheim are continuing their upwards trend in Germany's top professional hockey league. Following a 5-point weekend, the current DEL champions were able to beat vice champions ERC Ingolstadt in a rematch of last season's playoffs finals by a score of 3-1.
This was the 3rd consecutive win for Mannheim who are now 6th while Ingolstadt stays 14th - dead last - in the league after losing 5 league matches in a row, bringing the total of losses in official competitions to six combined with losing in CHL round of last 16.

The last place in the pick up round and a disappointing season are the reasons cited by Vienna Capitals to announce the firing of American coach Tom Pokel, EBEL champion last season on Bolzano Foxes bench. "We need to shake the team before the playoffs" said Capitals GM Franz Kalla.
The new coach is Giacinto "Jim" Boni, former coach of Capitals from 2003 to 2007, in the last seasons working as Sports Manager at current DEL champion ERC Ingolstadt
New coaches at Ingolstadt
ERC Ingolstadt announces new coaches staff for next season: 40-years-old Swedish Niklas Sundblad will be the headcoach, assisted by his fellow countryman Petri Liimatainen. The duo worked together at Kölner Haie in 2010 when both were assistants. Liimatainen then coached in Sweden, while Sundblad remained at Kölner Haie
"I had good years in Köln, could learn a lot and gain experience, I am very grateful. Now it's time to take on a new challenge. The ERC Ingolstadt is a top team in the DEL, it's great that I get the chance" said Sundblad.
Ingolstadt fires head coach Chernomaz
DEL club ERC Ingolstadt fired their Canadian head coach Rich Chernomaz after a negative trend in recent months. He was in charge of his position since October 2010. Until further notice Austro-Canadian Richard Nasheim, who was assistant coach under Chernomaz, will be the new head coach in Ingolstadt.

DEL club ERC Ingolstadt announced that 47-year old Karl-Heinz Schapfl becomes the new GM of the club. He was the sales manager for Bosch in Bavaria for 25 years. He substitutes Jürgen Arnold and Reinhard Büchl who shared the position for the last three years. They will keep their jobs in the advisory bord of the Bavarian club.

The next European Trophy will pass from current 24 teams to a new formula with 32 participants. New teams to get in are Swiss CP Bern, HC Fribourg-Gottéron, le EV Zug and ZSC Lions, German ERC Ingolstadt and Hamburg Freezers, Swedeish Brynäs IF and Finnish JYP Jyväskylä.
