Välivaara’s double wins wins a point for Novokuznetsk

Finnish defender Jyrki Välivaara scored his first two goals of the season when Metallurg Novokuznetsk wins a point away to Severstal in one of today's five KHL games.
Spartak 2–1 OT AmurSpartak beat Amur in overtime and hasn't won in regulations in the new year. Former Spartak captain Oleg Piganovich in a power-play with a one-timer under the crossbar opened the scoring at 9:01. Two minutes later the next shot by Piganovich from the same position met the left crossbar. Mikhail Yunkov after a good pass from Bodrov tied the game again in power-play. Spartak had the worst power-play again but another brother Yunkov managed to get the puck in the net. But referees said no goal because of skate playing. What a save made Sergei Borisov who exchanged goalie Ivan Kasutin after the first period, in the overtime he stopped a dangerous shot with his left leg. With 12 seconds remaining in the overtime Stefan Ruzicka closed the game with a quick wrister.
Severstal 4-3SO Metallurg NkThe Novokuznetsk team rally from a 2-goal lead but lost the game in the shootout series. Ruslan Nurtdinov and Alexander Stepanov made a 2-goal lead for Severstal quickly in the first. Jyrki Välivaara became the real hero for Metallurg Nk. Firstly he cut Severstal lead and with 48 seconds left in the third tied the game. Between Välivaara's goals Bogdan Kiselevich and Dmitry Kagarlitsky scored for each team. Alexei Tsvetkov led Severstal to the victory in the shootout series. Metallurg snapped its 4 game winning streak which was made at home.
Vityaz 4-6 SibirOnly Sibir among Siberian teams began their trip with victory. Vityaz Chekhov who traded some of its important players a few days ago was beaten in a dramatic finish. After two periods the score was 4-4 Yevgeny Timkin twice, Andrei Zabolotnev, Roman Kudinov scored for Vityaz and Nikita Zaitsev, Alexander Suglobov, Jonas Enlund, Stepan Sannikov for Sibir. The home team lead only with first goal and in other cases they tried to catch their opponent. Konstantin Makarov at 51:00 with a pass from their goalie Yury Klyuchnikov gave Sibir a 1-goal lead which was extended in the last minute of play with Stepan Sannikov empty-net goal. Sibir after long not-winning streak on the road won the second straight game.
Torpedo 2-3 AvangardAvangard snapped Torpedo's 13 games winning streak at home beating them 3-2. It was only 00:58 when Yury Alexandrov opened the scoring after a pass from Yegor Averin. Alexei Ugarov fed up a good pass to Martin Thörnberg who tied the game at 24:41. In the middle of the period Alexander Nesterov gave Avangard a lead. At 52:52 Torpedo tied the game again Maxim Potapov with powerful shot made it 2-2. Omsk team only needed two minutes to return the game on its account. Alexander Popov scored game-deciding goal at 54:13 with assists from Alexander Frolov and Anton Kuryanov.
Dynamo Moscow 4-1 HC LevTwo goals for Jakub Klepis in the first helped Dynamo beat HC Lev 4-2. In the equal first period Dynamo Moscow managed to earn a 2-goal lead early in the period Klepis opened the scoring and later in power-play made it 2-0. At 32:53 increased Dynamo lead to 3-goals with Yury Babenko goal with a pass from Denis Tolpeko. Sergei Fedorov in power-play cut home team lead but it was only one thing that Metallurg managed to do. Konstantin Volkov with an empty-net goal closed the game with 1:40 remaining in the third.
