Black Sea Cup starts today in Erzurum

Turkey and Georgia begin the cooperation to promote ice hockey and create a common league. Armenia was invited to join the project
The Turkish Ice Hockey Federation and Georgian Ice Hockey National Federation have agreed to play a total of 12 Senior Games, 6 U14 Games, and 6 U16 Games in the newly established Black Sea League. The teams will play games Friday, Saturday & Sunday. This is the first step in forming the Black Sea League which was agreed upon in June of 2010.
Keith McAdams, Head Coach and Director of Project said, "This is the first step of the Agreement between Armenia, Georgian and Turkey to create a professional league and develop local youth hockey. We all believe this will be great for the development of hockey in Erzurum Region, Armenia, Georgian. All three countries have agreed to participate in a number of player development programs. "
The Turkish Ice Hockey Federation and Georgian Ice Hockey National Federation will meet with Armenia Ice Hockey Federation during the first stage of League on January , 27, 28, 29 in Erzurum when the official delegation form Armenian Federation will attend the openning ceremony on 26th.
Both TBHF and GIHNF agree to add Armenia into the Black Sea League at an agreed upon stage of this season. Both TBHF and GIHNF agree to provide additional dates for games with Armenia. After the project began, a number of international and domestic political issues entered into the project. All parties believe they can work through these issues. If these issues can not be resolved this season Armenia will begin play in the league in 2012-13.
