President Petras Nauseda and General Secretary Martynas Šlikas resign after the Polish scandal
Some days after the explosion of the
biggest scandal in Lithuanian hockey history, Federation General Secretary Martynas Šlikas and President Petras Nauseda announced their resignation. This act follows the renunciation of other three Board members - Remigijus Valickas, Mindaugas Marcinkevičius and Tomas Budrauskas - at the end of April.
Nauseda - the main accused for his conduct in Poland - wrote an open letter to explain his act: "I would like to announce that as of today officially leave the positions of President and board member of the Lithuanian ice hockey Federation For two years the Federation has had absolute support and trust, but has recently started disagreements within the Council, distrust each other, or just do not want to work in a team for me is unacceptable.
The latter scandal lowered all Lithuanian ice hockey team players. I do not want to blame anything, just understand that there is still time for new life in terms of management, communication, accountability, very important factors especially in public organizations such as sports federations.
Within two years I have done tons of visible and invisible work for them and I am grateful to the team members (athletes, members of the Council members of the Federation) for their support or criticism, or activity-inactivity. During these more than two years of operation I worked for free and had never got personal gain - just your willingness, commitment and dedication for the hockey interest"
The Fedration hasn't now the minimum members to operate, so in near future a new Board will be elected by the clubs
