Embarrassing gaffe of the organizers during hockey World Championship opening day.
The organizers made an embarrassing error during hockey World Championship opening day. Norwegian extremist Anders Breivik Behring face appeared by mistake among the images on a large poster of Finland team in Helsinki arena.
The poster is part of a campaign which used ordinary people's faces instead of hockey players' faces. People could upload their pictures on Facebook page and on the campaign website.
To put right the situation, organizers first covered Breivik's face with
a picture of a dog. Later, his face was cut away from the poster.
MTV Marketing Manager Jaana Merikallio, responsible for communication in the arena, heard about the accident via the Finnish homepage
Satakunnan Kansa, who was the first media to disclose the news. She said that there was a human error, despite the fact that the images have been repeatedly reviewed by the responsible agency. Friday evening Merikallio could not answer whether the poster reprinted in a corrected version
The fact completely surprised the IIHF marketing manager
Tarja Runsten: "Is it really so? Advertising in the arena is a thing you have to check carefully, especially before putting pictures on a poster. This must have been one unfortunate lapsus".
To complete the blunder, it was also revealed that the Finnish triple murderer Nikita Fouganthines' face was on the poster. Also this picture was cut away later
