Canada names Deutschland Cup roster

Hockey Canada announced Tuesday the 22 players who will play for Canada’s National Men’s Team at the 2012 Deutschland Cup, Nov. 9-11 in Munich, Germany. The roster features the second leading scorers in the Deutsche Elite Liga (Yanick Lehoux) and the Finnish SM-Liiga (Stephen Dixon), as well as six former members of Canada’s National Junior Team.

Canada last participated in the Deutschland Cup in 2010, finishing third. The National Men’s Team has taken part in the tournament on 15 occasions (1992-2006, 2008, 2010), winning gold four times (2000, 2002, 2005, 2008).

In addition, it was announced that Rich Chernomaz (Port Alberni, B.C./ Ingolstadt, DEL) will serve as head coach of Canada’s National Men’s Team at the 2012 Deutschland Cup, joined behind the bench by assistant coaches Fred Brathwaite (Ottawa, Ont.) and Doug Mason (Sudbury, Ont./ Iserlohn, DEL).
