Ilves from Tampere became already the second club within couple days in Finnish major league SM-liiga who fires its coach. On Tuesday Pasi Sormunen was showed the door in HIFK and on Wednesday Finnish ice hockey icon, coach of Ilves Tampere, Raimo Helminen became unemployed.
Helminen was replaced by Tuomas Tuokkola who was already earlier chosen as a new coach for Ilves but starting after current season. However Ilves' play has been so bad lately and more or less the whole season that this decision was necessary. Tuokkola was fired by KalPa in August 2012 just before current season started.
Ilves is on the last place in the table and already 14 points behind the next team TPS Turku. Helminen started as a head coach of Ilves in spring 2012.
