Six players suspended from the national team after drinking alcohol during the recent World Championship tournament

During the Division I, Group B World Championships in Ukraine, a few Estonia players took the time to go drinking. Before the important match against Romania, four players returned back to the hotel at 03:00, drunk and together with "lady friends." One player, Maksim Ivanov had to be removed from the team, Ivanov spent the rest of the tournament in his room drinking.

On the return home to Tallinn, some players returned home so drunk, they had to be helped off the plane, the problems within the team caused tension among those who came for their country. Up and coming star Robert Rooba said afterwards "playing in a team like this is of no interest to me at all."

Today, the Estonia Federation has suspened six players for their actions in Ukraine, Maksim Ivanov is banned for 2 years, while Sergei Ivanov, Sergei Novikov, Artjom Rumjantsev, Anatoli Jakovlev and Filipp Švarõgin will miss next year.

Estonia finished last in the World Championship Division 1B, and was relegated to division 2.
