Kloten win against bottom-placed Rapperwil while HC Lugano push SC Bern out of top 8

Kloten's intentions were clear, win the game and bring home 3 points. And they did that with a consequence and four unanswered goals.

Mathias Bieber (assist: Tommi Santala) in the 9th minute and Captain Victor Stancescu in the 16 minute (Eric Blum) finished the 1st period. The second period continued with a goal by Eric Blum (Michael Liniger) and the 3rd period which saw a total of 6 goals that finished the game. in the 3rd, Tommi Santala (Patrick von Gunten) scored the 4th goal before Rapperswil started a race to catch up with 4 goals within 8 minutes. First one to score was Peter Sejna (Mauro Jörg, Benjamin Neukomm) with Derrick Walser (Benjamin Neukomm, Peter Sejna) scoring 5 minutes later. Inbetween, the Flyers had their 5th goal of the game by Mathias Bieber (unassisted) to secure the game. Manuel Grigioni (Stefan Hürlimann, Antonio Rizzello) and Nicklas Danielsson (Derrick Walser, Stefan Hürlimann) beat goalie Michael Flückiger with the 3rd and 4th goal. It was Finnish Center Tommi Santala (unassisted) with his second goal of the evening who concluded the successful rush for points for the Flyers at the Diners Club Arena (Spectators: 4'307).

Lugano blanks SC Bern 4:0

In the Pista Resega (Spectators: 5'451) in Lugano, the home team was determined to keep the points and further cement their position in the top 4 of the NLA. And they did just that with 3 unanswered goals in the first period. Brett McLean (Julian Walker, Stefan Ulmer) in the 4th minute, Marco Maurer (Lorenz Kienzle) in the 13th minute and Clarence Kparghai (Julian Walker, Brett McLean) in the 16th minute decided the game on the spot. The second period went goalless with Bern not able to get the goals they needed. Brady Murray (Stefan Ulmer, Brett McLean) scored the 4th goal and with that, last years Champion found themselves out of the top 8 because Lausanne won their game against Zug which meant that if the regular season had ended here, SC Bern would have to go to play-outs. Lucky for Bern that they have another 6 games to change that.
