North American team crushed the competition routing Mexico in the final. Colombia wins a brilliant bronze in first international competition
Pan-American Tournament closed on Sunday in Mexico City with the foregone conclusion: team Canada, formed by former minor leagues players, crushed 7-0 Mexico national team in the final capturing the unprecedented title. Canada had a perfect record in the competition, hammering all the opponents for a final 56-6 goals difference. Host Mexico, who has spared no efforts to organize this tournament, finished second having played a decent game in qualifying group against Canada, loosing 3-6, but without offering much resistance in the final. The real surprise is the Colombian team: in its first ever appearance on ice, south american team captured an unexpected bronze showing good performances on ice, defeated only by Mexico and Canada. Argentina finished 4th and Brazil at the bottom, loosing all the game included the one against arch-rival Argentina 3-5.
In the women's tournament Sudbury Lady Wolves, representing Canada, won the gold medal beating Mexico 8-0 in the final
