23 days from the first game against Belgium for the World Championship Division 2a in Tilburg, Netherlands, Serbian Federation announces the appointment of Canadian David Urquhart as new national team Head Coach.

Urquhart, a product of MCGill University, played for three seasons between ECHL and AHL before to move in Italy in 2011-2012 season, played there for Valpellice, Pontebba and Renon until retirement after 2013-2014 season, finished with the double triumph in Italian League and Coppa Italia. He started immediately a coaching career as assistant in his ancient team at McGill University before to accept the offer of Serbia.

With the new coach, Serbia will play two preparation games before the start of World Championship, both against Croatia: on April 12 in Belgrade and April 17 in Zagreb.

"I would like to express my great satisfaction and gratitude to everyone who helped David Urquhart to become the coach of our national team. The greatest merits belong to the current U18 and U20 national team coach, Fred Perowne, as well as former Serbia captain Marko Kovacevic who was David's teammate at McGill University. And also a big thanks to Daniel Jacob, a Canadian with Serbian nationality, currently assistant coach of the Canadian U18 national team and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of QMJHL league - says Marko Milovanovic, President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Serbia

- The Board of Directors considers this move a long-term solution, especially with regard to the development of hockey in Serbia. We are sure that Urquhart will contribute with his knowledge and energy to improve the level of the game - said Milovanovic.
