Uzbek saga continues
Uzbekistan hockey will jump to a professional level in the upcoming season, but the question of which team will play in the Kazakh championship is becoming a soap opera
Who will play in Kazakhstan League from Uzbekistan? The question is
becoming the story of the summer: initially the candidate was Binokor Tashkent, supposedly entering as farm team of Humo Tashkent, granted in
Russian VHL. Last week surprisingly was annunced Binokor will be
replaced by a newly created team, called Sherdor, from the city of
Samarkand, where a new ice arena is about to be finished. Binokor
Director Abdumazhid Nasirov was puzzled about the decision: "As far as I
know, there is no hockey club and hockey school in Samarkand, and they
only build a skating rink."
Now a new twist in the story: it was
announced same Humo will enter in the Kazakh League with a farm team
with the same name, citing the fact that Sherdor does not have time to
assemble a team by the beginning of the season. Also, the arena in
Samarkand will be put into operation not in September, as stated before,
but in December of this year. Is this the last episode of the saga?
