Game recap

Milton Keynes Lightning ended their long winless run with a shootout win at home to Dundee.

The Stars were ahead late in period one through Jordan Cownie with 2:18 to play, but the Lightning took control of the game in the middle period. Martin Mazanec levelled the game up just 1:48 into the second, before two goals in 32 seconds put the Lightning two ahead – Tim Wallace and Radek Meidl both finding the net and putting MK into a healthy lead by 33:36.

However the home fan would have to wait longer for the win to come – Charles Corcoran and then Cownie again scored for the Stats in the third to earn the Starts a point and send the game to overtime.

With the deadlock not broken in those added five minutes, the Lightning would win the shootout in the fifth round – Andreas Valdix adding to Robbie Baillargeon’s goal, and Dundee not able to get past Patrick Killeen.
