Game recap

Cardiff Devils let a two-goal lead slip as Fife Flyers rescued a point on Sunday night, before the Welsh side took the extra point in overtime.

Joey Martin opened the scoring as the Devils broke 3-on-2 and was allowed too much space to pick his spot past Shane Owen with 1:46 played at the Fife Ice Arena. With 2:#2 left on the period one clock, Josh Waller rang one in off the post after nice interchange play with Ryan Penny.

Janne Kivilahti pulled one back for the Flyers 3:46 into period two, but under two minutes later Marcus Crawford had restored the Devils' two-goal lead.

The hosts produced an excellent comeback in the final ten minutes to earn themselves a point, however. Janne Laakkonenen pulled the score back to 3-2 with 9:50 to play, before Chris Gerrie made the most of a fortunate bounce off a blocked shot with 3:09 to play.

Cardiff started overtime on the powerplay but couldn't convert, however they took the bonus point with a Cole Sanford snipe into Owen's far-side top corner with 11 seconds left in overtime.
