Canada wins 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial

Nathan MacKinnon scored a hat trick when Canada won the Ivan Hlinka final against Finland.
Canada won its fifth consecutive gold medal of the prestigious U18 tournament in memory of the late
Ivan Hlinka. Finland could not threaten the Canadians in the final. After a scoreless first final Canada out-shot Finland 22-9 in the second and moved to a 3-0 lead. Nathan MacKinnon scored the first two goals and Curtis Lazar made it 3-0. The chasing Finns only managed to get six shots on goal in the third period and Canada’s goalie Zachary Fucale made 23 saves to earn the shutout. Nathan MacKinnon completed his hat trick at 48:07 when he closed the scoring at 4-0.
Sweden captured the bronze medal after beating Czech Republic 2-1. Lucas Wallmark and André Burakowsky scored for Sweden. Peter Ceslik got the only Czech goal.
